Long Service Leave Payments

Long Service Leave Payments

Payments to workers

When registered workers have accrued 3,650 service credits equating to ten (10) year’s work, they are eligible to apply for payment of their long service leave entitlement of 8.67 weeks.

The long service leave is calculated by adding together the amount of the worker’s moderated wages (a worker’s ordinary wages earned as a proportion of a prescribed classification level) over the time of registration. It is paid at the current rate of the prescribed classification level applicable at the time of making the application.

Payments reimbursed to employers

If an employer pays all or part of a worker’s long service leave entitlement for a period when a registered worker was engaged in performing cleaning work, the employer may apply to the Authority for payment. This payment will be calculated on the same basis as a worker’s payment (see above).

Employers must apply to the Authority for reimbursement of payments within three (3) months of paying the entitlement
