See how QLeave has contributed to the industry over the last 25 years.

In 2017, QLeave celebrated 25 years of service to Queensland’s building and construction industry.

Many workers in the building and construction industry are employed for the duration of specific projects. Until 1992, these workers were disadvantaged as their work meant that they were unlikely to be employed in the continuous service needed to earn long service leave.

After decades of campaigning by industry bodies, unions and workers, the Queensland Government enacted legislation to provide our construction workers with portable long service leave.

For the first time these workers had access to the same long service leave benefits as most Australians. Importantly, workers could accrue long service leave entitlements for continuous service to the industry, rather than a single employer.
