Human Rights and QLeave

The Human Rights Act 2019 (the Act) sets out the human rights that are protected for all people in Queensland. QLeave is committed to ensuring that it acts and makes decisions in a way that is consistent with its obligations as a public entity under the Act.

The Act protects 23 fundamental human rights drawn from international human rights law.

The main objects of the Human Rights Act 2019 are to:

  • Protect and promote human rights;
  • Help build a culture in the Queensland Public Sector that respects and promotes human rights; and
  • Help promote a dialogue about the nature, meaning and scope of human rights.
