How portable long service leave works
What is QLeave?
QLeave provides a long service leave scheme for workers in Queensland’s contract cleaning industry. Our scheme rewards you for your service to the industry by making sure you receive long service leave benefits, even if you change employers or work interstate.
How does it work?
Your employers are required to register the hours you work with QLeave. When you have 10 years of service recorded, you’re entitled to 8.67 weeks of long service leave paid by us.
Each year, a statement of recorded service is available to you online.
Entitlements are based on time spent in the industry rather than time spent with an individual employer. So, even if you change jobs, we’ll know how many hours you’ve worked overall.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost for you to be registered with us. All contract cleaning industry employers pay a levy to QLeave and submit an employer return each quarter, showing the work and wages of their cleaners.

QLeave is a statutory authority administering the portable long service leave scheme for workers and employers in the contract cleaning industry in Queensland.
The Scheme was introduced in 2005 to ensure that cleaners in the contract cleaning industry who have seven or more years recorded service are eligible to accrue long service leave entitlement.
